About me

I am a C-suite global advisor with a strong track record of partnering with senior leaders to develop strategy and drive change, embedding best practice communications and delivering world class storytelling.

As a former senior executive at Christian humanitarian agency World Vision, I have been involved in the development of both national and global business strategies and framing senior leadership change communications. In the role of Chief Communications Officer, I led collaborative global strategy processes involving 500 plus communicators across 100 countries; encompassing corporate communications, reputation management, public affairs, digital, media, social media and internal communications.

Prior to this, as Editor-in-Chief and Associate Publisher of PRWeek, the leading magazine for the communications industry, I led a strategic relaunch of the magazine securing majority market share, overtaking main competitor The Guardian, increasing subscriptions by 26% and recruitment advertising by 50%.

At PRWeek, I had unparalleled access to a wide range of companies and not-for-profit organisations and gained a unique insight into the very best practice in communications. As Editor, I I led industry wide forums for developing best practice standards for communications, monitoring and evaluation and as as senior leader, I have been able to apply this knowledge, developing award-winning communications functions and best practice models for communicative organisations. For example, at World Vision UK, I led a team which delivered a 245% increase in media coverage and a 40% increase in media reach with 99% favorability, increased online conversation and reduced donor acquisition costs plus a PRWeek Award for broadcast innovation.

Prior to this I worked with TBWA’s communications agency Broadstone Communications, and Foster-Berry Associates on a range of corporate and consumer clients.

As a journalist and author, I have written for a wide range of publications including The Independent, The Observer, The Business, Business Life, Management Today, Marketing, Ideal Home and Traveller Magazine. Published books include Sea Changed – coming home, healing and being at peace with God and children’s novella Wife of the Wind.

I am also an authorized preacher in the Church of England and minister at St Peter’s and St Paul’s, the home of the world famous hymn Amazing Grace, and have extensive experience as a public speaker at national and international business conferences and Christian events.

Author

Sea Changed is an account of my unconventional faith journey - and my search for truth, peace and healing.
I wrote the book while going through treatment for advanced cancer, initially as a legacy for my children. I wanted them to know how much God loved me and had stood by me all my life, even as a faced potentially leaving them.
